Tyre Care
Precautions to prevent tyres from wearing out prematurely:
Always make sure your tyres are inflated to the correct pressure. When inflating your tyres, always make sure that the gauge is accurate. Never bleed air from tyres / tubes, which are hot after continuous running. Always make sure that the tyres are the correct pressure at regular intervals (optimally, every fortnight).
Make sure that your tyres have valve caps, which are screwed on securely to prevent air leakage and prevent dirt and other particles from entering the valve pin area. In vehicles fitted with radials as original equipment tyres, make sure that the tyres are inflated to the specified minimum on the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations. You will find this on the tyre pressure placard/sticker, which is usually placed near the driver's right hand side door or please refer to the Vehicle Manual.
It is advisable to occasionally check your car's suspension, especially if you are driving on bad roads.
Driving habits affect the life of tyres:
Here are some tips to increase the life of your tyres:
- Don't speed: excessive heat is generated when driving at high speeds. This heat increases the rate of tyre wear and reduces the tyre's durability.
- Avoid fast turns on curves and around corners; fast starts and panic stops.
- Don't ride on the edge of the pavement or drive over curbs, chuck-holes, or other obstructions.
Tips while filling Air in your Tyre:
- Always make sure that your tyres are inflated to the correct pressure. When inflating your tyres, always make sure that the gauge is accurate. Never bleed air from tyres / tubes, which are hot after continuous running. Always make sure that the tyres are maintained at the correct pressure at regular intervals (optimally, every fortnight).

How much air should I put in my tyres?
Proper inflation is the single most important part of tyre care. The inflation pressure on the side of the tyre is the MAXIMUM operating pressure. It is not necessarily the right inflation for your vehicle. Always use the inflation recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. You can find it in your owner's manual, posted on the edge of the driver's door, on a door post or on the inside of the glovebox door. Always check inflation when tyres are COLD: when the vehicle has been driven less than a mile or one hour or more after driving. Use a good quality tyre gauge. Note: It's natural for radial tyres to have a slight bulge in the sidewall at their proper inflation pressure. Check or adjust inflation every few weeks, before any long trip or if traveling with a heavy load. And don't forget to check the spare. Your Goodyear retailer can answer any questions you may have about tyre inflation.
Tyre Balancing
An un-balanced wheel may cause vibration to the vehicle. So it is recommended to balance the tyre-rim assembly under the following situations:
If some vibrations are felt Mounting/De-mounting or after every 5,000 kms.
Wheel Alignment
Always maintain proper wheel alignment. Wheel alignment should be done after every 5,000 kms or whenever any irregular wear on tyre is found.
Daily Tyre Check
Every morning before starting the vehicle, check the exterior of your tyre. If the damages exposing the ply cord and/or steel belt are visible, remove the tyre and consult with a tyre specialist. Remove stones or nails which are entrapped in the tread of the tyre.
Tyre Change
The tyre being used currently should be replaced with a new tyre when the tread wear indicator (1.6mm height) is exposed.
